Srinagar, Feb 01 (KNO): Continuing its war against drug menace, Police in Anantnag on Saturday said to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Police Station Mattan received a specific information through reliable sources that one Hilal Ahmad Wani son of Farooq Ahmad Wani resident of Kralgund Brah Mattan has indulged in peddling of narcotic substances and has hoarded a large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of NDPS was registered in Police Station Mattan and investigation was taken up, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
On receipt of this information, a police team alongwith Executive Magistrate concerned raided the specific location. During search, about 04 Kgs of Charas Powder was recovered from the said house and the owner of the said house was arrested on the spot. Further investigation in the instant case continues, police said.
Moreover, Police Party from Police Lost Sangam during naka checking near Tulkhan crossing apprehended Saber Ahmad Sheikh son of Roni Sheikh resident of Delhi.
During the search, 14 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession. In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been initiated, police said.
